This is for an acrylic class I am taking on line at www.learntodo.co.uk I wanted to show the steps
because I found it interesting and thought others might as well. The painting starts by covering the whole canvas with this orange and then sketching it in.
Next you were to block in the white wash of the building and the darkest shadow areas. This got a big reaction from friends and family at this point who all seemed to have the same comment. "Oh, its a building, I didn't know what you were doing with the orange.
Then you put in the lighter shadows and add detail. It was fun to do and was helpful for me to work on the light and shadows and see how important and what a difference they make to a painting.
That is SO interesting. Thanks for doing that for all to see. Awesome outcome too!
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC! I would love to learn how to paint with acrylic too someday :) This certainly helps in giving some sort of preview of how flexible and fun it is. Thank you so much Florence!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I have yet to do this exercise. I'm taking the course too.
ReplyDeleteI really, really enjoyed this post! Thank you for showing the process. Those of us who are new to painting really appreciate seeing these steps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, it's great how we can share and learn from each other! I'm loving this group.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has only worked in watercolor, I cannot comprehend the different processes used in acrylics and oils. Thanks for showing your process and hope you're having fun in your class.
