Portrait Painting Class

I took a portrait painting class this week. It was very interesting. We started off drawing generic male and female heads in 5 poses in a manner very much like learning to print your abc's. Then we moved on to drawing from photograph's. Can you guess who this is? He is famous and the photo was of him in the '70's. Once we did the sketch we transferred it to canvas. My brain actually hurt trying to paint this. Like when you haven't worked out and you first go back (I think my brain was telling me something.) I persevered, I found capturing his eyes the hardest but was happy with the end result. (Considering I've never painted a portrait before.)

  5. It sounds as if it was a good class, something I'd like to do for sure. The drawing and the painting are great, that's an excellent first portrait.

  6. I'd say Clint Eastwood...I don't know, the hair and the facial expression just make a lot of sense...then again, could be James Dean? hahahahaha
I really like the sketch version too =)

  8. Definitely, Clint Eastwood I'd say!
That's an amazing painting, really. I admire how you make a perfectly recognizable portrait by what looks like "loose play" with colors (I *know* it must have been a lot of work, just don't know how to better express what I want to say...). I just love this style. And the colors too! <3
